Elon Musk said on a post on X that he looks forward to visiting India this year which was scheduled for April 21 and 22, which now seems to be postponed for some reasons. The Tesla CEO posted on his social media platform X about multiple sources familiar with his India visit.
Elon Musk was to come to India to meet the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to discuss about the plans for entering the Indian market.
On April 10, Musk said that he was looking forward to meet PM Modi. The Indian Government have created a new electric vehicle manufacturing policy which will allow the government to give duty concessions to electric car companies committing to Make in India. This policy was created just few weeks before Musk's planned visit to India.
Elon Musk posted on his social media platform X saying that very heavy Tesla obligations require because of which the visit to India had to be delayed. He also said that he looks forward to visiting later India this year.
So there are questions like what is the purpose of Elon's visit to India? What development is he bringing in India?
Musk was likely to be presenting a roadmap for an investment of around 20 - 30 billion dollars in India. However, there weren't any chances that the Starlink agreement would happen in this visit.
In a news agency ANI interview, when PM Modi was asked about how Musk had said he was a "Modi fan", Modi said "Look, the first thing saying that Elon Musk being a supporter of Modi is one thing, he is basically a supporter of India. And i just met him. It's not like that."
Modi had met Musk twice before - once in 2015, during the factory visit, and other, during PM Modi's visit to the US in 2023.
"He showed me everything in his factory. And I understood his vision from him. I went there just now (to the US in 2023) and met him again. And now he said he will come to India," says PM Modi (to ANI).
The Tesla CEO told the Indian PM that he planned to visit India in 2024. He also expressed his confidence that the company will enter the Indian Market soon.
